Music, Laughter and Local Talent Fill Somerville Seniors Hall | STPL News

More than 140 people attended the Smorgasbord of Music at the Somerville Seniors Hall, part of the Victorian Seniors Festival and hosted by Somerville Community House.

Hosted by the Somerville Community House, the free afternoon concert brought together a lively mix of local talent, featuring the Keep In Step line dancers, Somerville Strummers ukulele group, Southern Sounds Chorus ladies’ a-capella ensemble, and mixed choir Peninsula Voices.

Somerville Community House manager Kim Fitcher opened the event, welcoming guests and introducing funny-man Don Jones, who served as MC. Jones kept the crowd entertained with his quick wit and light-hearted humour between performances.

The afternoon wrapped up with a light tea and raffle, rounding off a relaxed and good-spirited celebration that drew locals from Peninsula.

Organisers said the Smorgasbord of Music series continues to grow each year, offering a fun way for people to come together, enjoy live entertainment and celebrate the strong sense of community that defines Somerville.

A Celebration of Local Talent

First held in 2022, the Smorgasbord of Music has become a highlight of the Victorian Seniors Festival on the Mornington Peninsula — part of a statewide celebration recognising the contributions of older Victorians through a month of performances, activities and community events each October.
