Man Arrested After Two Stabbings in Frankston in 24 Hours

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a 27-year-old man after two women were stabbed in separate incidents on Young Street and Playne Street within 24 hours.

A 27-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing two women in separate attacks in Frankston within a 24-hour period, one of which involved an alleged bag and phone theft.

First Attack: Young Street, Skye Woman Struck From Behind

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives say the first incident occurred on 16 August at about 1:15pm. A 53-year-old Skye woman was allegedly struck from behind with a sharp implement while walking on Young Street. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The offender fled the scene.

Second Attack: Playne Street Robbery Turns Violent

The second stabbing took place the following morning, 17 August, at about 7:45am on Playne Street. Police allege the offender approached a 29-year-old Western Australian woman from behind, stabbed her, and then demanded her bag and phone before fleeing with her belongings. She was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Arrest on Ross Smith Avenue East

Police arrested a 27-year-old man of no fixed address a short time later on Ross Smith Avenue East. He remains in custody in relation to both incidents and will be interviewed by investigators.
