In a highly anticipated clash, traditional rivals Somerville and Pearcedale meet in the Round 10 MPNFL fixture at Somerville this Saturday.
Both teams are in winning form, with Somerville consecutively defeating the highly fancied Chelsea, Rye and Frankston Bombers, while Pearcedale caused a massive boilover in Round 9 by recording a sensational 33-point victory against Chelsea.
Currently sitting in third position on the premiership ladder, Somerville can consolidate its ladder position in the top four, while Pearcedale can challenge the top five if victorious.
In a hard-fought and courageous victory against Frankston on their turf, Somerville trailed by 10 points with only minutes left on the clock. Clutch goals from skipper Mason DeWit and Lochie Fewster iced the contest to secure a crucial win for the club.
Equally, Pearcedale completed one of their most impressive victories in recent times. With a number of key players absent through injury, the strong Chelsea line-up entered the contest as clear favourites. However, Pearcedale served it right up to Chelsea in front of a parochial home crowd and fully deserved their win.
Two outstanding coaches in Chris Gamble, Somerville, and Peter Bastinac, Pearcedale, are both uncompromising in their team expectations, so supporters from both clubs can expect a riveting and fiercely contested battle.
