A woman has been killed in a Frankston South fatal hit-run, with police hunting for a dark-coloured SUV that allegedly fled the scene early Tuesday morning.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after emergency services were called to Frankston-Flinders Road, near Highland Drive, about 5.30am on Tuesday, 22 September.
Police believe a vehicle struck the female pedestrian before leaving the scene and travelling west along Frankston-Flinders Road.
The vehicle is believed to be a dark-coloured SUV.
The woman died at the scene.
She had not been formally identified when Victoria Police issued its first public statement at 7.41am.
Frankston South Fatal Hit-Run Investigation
Detectives are now working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision and identify the vehicle involved.
A crime scene has been established on Frankston-Flinders Road, with traffic disruptions expected in the area while investigators examine the scene.
Victoria Police has not released further details about the SUV, including its make, model or registration.
Police Appeal For Dashcam And CCTV
Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling through Frankston South around the time of the collision to come forward.
