Two men have been arrested after police allegedly found approximately $15,000 worth of stolen tools in Hastings, inside a vehicle police say had been stolen from Frankston.
Hastings general duties officers spotted an allegedly stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee travelling along Hodgins Road about 2.30am on Wednesday, 16 September.
With assistance from the Victoria Police Air Wing, officers followed the Jeep, which was towing an allegedly stolen trailer, through Hastings.
Police said the vehicle was eventually abandoned beneath a carport on Spring Street.
A 22-year-old Crib Point man and a 40-year-old Frankston man were arrested nearby.
Stolen Tools Recovered In Hastings
Victoria Police said approximately $15,000 worth of tools were located inside the vehicle.
Police allege the tools had previously been stolen from Cheltenham, while the Jeep had allegedly been stolen from Frankston on 15 September.
Crib Point Man Charged
The 22-year-old Crib Point man has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft from a motor vehicle, theft, handling stolen goods and several traffic offences.
He was remanded to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 28 September.
The 40-year-old Frankston man was released pending further enquiries and has not been reported as charged.
