Driver Four Times Over Limit Caught at Random Safety Beach RBT

A 60-year-old Burwood woman has allegedly been caught driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.210 during a random police operation at Safety Beach. Her licence was immediately suspended, and she is set to face court.

A woman has allegedly been caught drink-driving at more than four times the legal limit during a random roadside breath testing operation at Safety Beach.

According to Eyewatch – Mornington Peninsula Police Service, officers from Somerville Highway Patrol set up a mobile testing site on Bruce Road, near the marina, around 11.30am on Thursday.

Eleven tests in, a 60-year-old woman from Burwood allegedly returned a positive result for alcohol. A further evidentiary test showed a breath alcohol concentration of 0.210—more than four times the legal limit of 0.05.

Police immediately suspended the woman’s licence and impounded her vehicle. She is expected to appear before a Magistrate at a later date.

Somerville Highway Patrol reminded the public that drink-driving operations are held across the Mornington Peninsula without notice.

Anywhere. Anytime. We will catch you,” the post read.

The incident was shared via the Eyewatch – Mornington Peninsula Police Service Facebook page as part of their ongoing campaign against impaired driving.
