Players and supporters from Somerville and Bonbeach Football Netball Clubs paused before play on Saturday to mark ANZAC Day at Somerville Recreation Reserve.
Players from both clubs formed a guard of honour as part of the pre-match commemoration, standing together in recognition of those who have served.
The ceremony was presented by Somerville FNC President Maddy Roberts, with the Ode of Remembrance recited by Somerville senior coach Chris Gamble, a recently retired Royal Australian Navy officer.
The moment brought both clubs together before the usual intensity of round three competition resumed.
Match Results

Somerville recorded several strong results on the day, including a 99 to 68 win in the senior football, a 141 to 14 result in the reserves, and a 68 to 46 win in the under-19s.
On the netball courts, Somerville won A Grade 39 to 37, C Grade 43 to 36, and 17&U 42 to 38. Bonbeach took the points in B Grade, 56 to 35, and D Grade, 53 to 33.
While the match results added to Somerville’s round three campaign, the day’s main focus remained the ANZAC Day commemoration, with both clubs taking part in a respectful pre-match ceremony before competition began.
