A 28-year-old man from Narre Warren has been charged with murder, aggravated home invasion, and armed robbery in connection with the fatal shootings of two individuals in Rye last year. He is scheduled to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates‘ Court today.
The incident occurred on 2 December 2024, when emergency services were called to a property on Parson Street, Rye, following reports of an altercation. Upon arrival, they found 29-year-old Jackson Gilmour and 19-year-old Charlyze Hayter with gunshot wounds; both died at the scene.

Investigations suggest that Ms Hayter and another individual entered Mr Gilmour’s home, leading to a violent confrontation. It is alleged that Ms Hayter assaulted Mr Gilmour with a baton before he fatally shot her. Subsequently, Mr Gilmour was allegedly shot by an accomplice of Ms Hayter.
In December, two other men from Narre Warren, aged 24 and 25, were charged with murder, aggravated home invasion, and armed robbery in relation to this case. They are scheduled to appear in court in May.
Authorities have indicated that all parties involved were known to each other.
