Frankston Mayor Cr Sue Baker officially opened iPlay Frankston on Thursday, cutting the ribbon at the entertainment company’s first Victorian venue.
The new Bayside Centre attraction has created about 60 local jobs, with many positions filled by young people from Frankston and surrounding areas.
Cr Baker welcomed the local recruitment and said the family-owned company’s investment added to Frankston’s ongoing transformation.
“This is the latest addition to our city that’s really transforming,” Cr Baker said.
“Family-owned businesses that are growing their own and really recruiting locally, that’s really great for us as a community.”
Deputy Mayor Cr Cherie Wanat and Cr Brad Hill joined Cr Baker at the opening alongside iPlay chief operating officer Michael and other company representatives.
Following the ribbon cutting, the councillors explored the venue and tried several of its games, with Cr Baker joining in the activities.
Permanent Entertainment Destination for Frankston
Cr Baker recalled travelling fairs and arcade machines as some of the entertainment options available during her childhood.
She said iPlay would provide a permanent attraction for Frankston’s growing population, with activities for children, families, community groups and workplaces.
“To have something that’s permanently here for our community is really great,” Cr Baker said.
“There’s going to be masses to do for all ages.”
The venue features more than 160 arcade games, bumper cars, party facilities and 11 Pandemonium Challenge Rooms.
The Frankston opening also marks the Australian debut of Pandemonium, which allows groups to compete in a series of physical and mental challenges.
Cr Baker said the experience could appeal to work teams and community groups as well as families.
“Any groups of people can come down here and have some fun and challenge each other,” she said.

iPlay Frankston is offering Double Dollars on game credits until Sunday, 2 August.
Customers can:
- Load $60 and receive $120 in credit
- Load $100 and receive $200 in credit
- Load $200 and receive $400 in credit
The venue is also offering discounts of up to 20 per cent on party bookings as part of its grand opening promotions.
iPlay Frankston occupies the former TK Maxx site at Bayside Centre, 9 Shannon Street Mall.
The opening provides another indoor entertainment option for local families while delivering a significant employment boost, particularly for young people entering the workforce.
