Somerville Business Group has listed eight Somerville infrastructure priorities, covering roads, railway facilities, mobile coverage and community amenities.
Its September update identifies projects needing attention and invites residents and businesses to suggest additions.
Eight Somerville Infrastructure Priorities
The group’s list includes:
- The roundabout in Somerville.
- North West Railway Project.
- Somerville Station upgrade.
- South West Railway Project.
- Telstra mobile phone tower.
- Public toilets near the railway station.
- Somerville Recreation Reserve.
- Somerville Police Station.
Progress On Toilets And Recreation Reserve
The group welcomed progress on the public toilets and recreation reserve master plan.
According to its update, renovations to the toilets near the railway station will begin on 9 November 2026. STPL News has not independently confirmed that date with council.
Meanwhile, Mornington Peninsula Shire councillors unanimously adopted the recreation reserve master plan on 1 September, as previously reported by STPL News.
The plan outlines 29 interconnected projects. Proposed improvements include an expanded oval, a new pavilion, better parking and vehicle access, additional pathways and a new tennis clubhouse.
Community feedback helped shape the final plan, including retaining the third netball court and plans to formalise parking around the oval.
Individual projects still require funding through future council budgets or external grants. Adopting the plan establishes a direction for improvements but does not fund the entire program.
