A 20-year-old Safety Beach man is expected to face charges after an alleged Dromana drink-driving crash left a Ford Fiesta written off on Nepean Highway.
Emergency services were called about 11.15pm on Sunday following reports that the car had crashed into a tree.
Police said the collision was believed to have occurred earlier that evening.
Car Found Unoccupied After Dromana Drink-Driving Crash
Officers found the badly damaged Ford Fiesta unoccupied when they arrived at the scene.
Police then attended the address of the vehicle’s registered owner, where they spoke with the 20-year-old man.
Victoria Police allege the man admitted he had been driving the vehicle before returning home and having a shower.
Despite the damage to the car, police said the man did not sustain any serious injuries. He was taken to hospital for assessment.
The man underwent a breath test and returned an alleged reading of 0.07, according to police.
Drink-Driving And Traffic Charges Expected
The Safety Beach man is expected to be charged on summons with drink-driving and other traffic offences.
Victoria Police said his driver’s licence would be disqualified for six months.
The Ford Fiesta, believed to belong to the man’s father, was written off in the Dromana crash, which occurred one week before Father’s Day.
