Police Appeal for Information Following Cyclists Hit-and-Run on Nepean Highway

Moorabbin Highway Patrol is seeking public assistance after a hit-and-run on Nepean Highway left two cyclists seriously injured. Police urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers

Moorabbin Highway Patrol is urgently seeking information regarding a hit-and-run collision that left two cyclists seriously injured on the Nepean Highway in Carrum early this morning.

The incident occurred around 6:30 am when the cyclists, a 52-year-old man from Ormond and a 48-year-old man from Glen Waverley, were travelling southbound between McLeod and Eel Race roads. They were struck from behind by a car believed to be a grey Mazda 3 sedan.

The driver failed to stop at the scene, with the vehicle last seen heading south past the United Petroleum service station on Nepean Highway..

Both cyclists sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital. Police indicated that the car would likely have significant damage to its front bumper bar and bonnet, as both riders were thrown onto the car’s bonnet, causing substantial damage to their bicycles.

Moorabbin Highway Patrol officers are appealing to the driver to come forward.

To aid the investigation, police have released an image and video footage of the vehicle believed to be involved.
