Frankston–Flinders Road has been left off a list of 33 Victorian roads targeted for repairs, despite being identified by Mornington Peninsula Shire as one of the region’s deteriorating state-managed roads.
The omission comes as the Victorian Government announces $1.4 billion in road maintenance funding, including targeted rehabilitation across 33 named roads.
While more than 100,000 potholes have reportedly been filled since July, the Herald Sun reports those were reactive repairs rather than long-term rehabilitation.
The 33-road list published by the Herald Sun includes Ballarto Road and Western Port Highway.
Frankston–Flinders Road is not among them.
What Frankston–Flinders Road Repairs Are Planned?
The Victorian Government says more than 1,000 maintenance projects are planned statewide, with a target of 500,000 pothole repairs by June 2027.
Transport Victoria confirms a 2.1-kilometre section between Sandy Point Road and Coolart Road at Balnarring has been rehabilitated.
A separate Mornington Peninsula Shire roadworks notice lists pavement rehabilitation at Balnarring, with a works window extending to April 2027. It remains unclear whether this relates to the completed project or additional works.
What remains unanswered is how much funding, if any, has been allocated to repairing other deteriorating sections of Frankston–Flinders Road during 2026–27.
Although its absence from the 33-road list does not mean the road has been excluded from the wider maintenance program, the extent of any further funded repairs remains unclear.
STPL News has written to Roads Minister Paul Hamer seeking an explanation for why Frankston–Flinders Road was not included among the 33 roads identified for targeted rehabilitation, and what funding, if any, has been allocated to repairing its remaining deteriorated sections during 2026–27.
