Mornington Peninsula Shire Releases Draft Onsite Wastewater Management Plan for Public Consultation

The Mornington Peninsula Shire has unveiled its draft Onsite Wastewater Management Plan for 2024-2029, aiming to enhance the management of domestic wastewater systems across the region. This initiative seeks to mitigate environmental and public health risks associated with onsite wastewater disposal.

The draft plan outlines strategies to improve the performance of existing wastewater systems, ensure compliance with current standards, and provide guidance for new installations. Key components include regular inspections, homeowner education programmes, and the promotion of sustainable wastewater technologies.

Community engagement is a cornerstone of the plan’s development. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to review the draft and provide feedback to ensure the final plan reflects the community’s needs and concerns. The consultation period is open until 31st March 2025.
