Dromana’s Marna Reserve Pavilion has officially reopened after a major $740,000 upgrade, delivering long-awaited improvements that promise to make the popular local hub more accessible and inviting for all.
Funded through a partnership between the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, the redevelopment has modernised the ageing facility with practical features including new access ramps, an accessible toilet, additional storage and improved parking.
Locals can already see the benefits. The upgraded pavilion is set to give a boost to community groups such as the Italian Seniors Club, the Dromana Junior and Senior Football Netball Clubs, and the Dromana Community Garden Group, all of which call the reserve home.
Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh described the project as a timely investment in local infrastructure, particularly as Dromana’s population continues to climb.
“With Dromana growing by over nine per cent each year, we’re focused on building community facilities that keep pace and bring people together,” he said.
Beyond sport, the Shire hopes the new-look pavilion will encourage broader community use, providing a comfortable, functional space for gatherings, programs and events that help strengthen local connections.
The pavilion upgrade is part of a broader push by Council to future-proof key public spaces across the Mornington Peninsula, ensuring they cater to residents of all ages and abilities — and continue to serve as vital hubs for local life.
