Emergency services responded this afternoon to a call of two men in trouble in the water at Frankston Beach.
According to Victoria Police, a search of the water was carried out and an air-wing unit located the pair unresponsive just after 5 pm. The men were winched back to shore by emergency crews but despite efforts to resuscitate them, both could not be revived.
The identities of the men have not yet been formally confirmed and Victoria Police are preparing reports for the Coroner.
Police are yet to establish the full circumstances that led to the men entering the water; inquiries will continue.
