Two 39-year-old men from Hastings have been charged following a series of ram raids across Melbourne’s south-east, including a targeted incident at a pharmacy on Marine Drive in Dromana on 29 May.
According to Victoria Police, the alleged crime spree spanned 28 to 30 May, targeting small businesses in Albert Park, Ashburton, Dromana and Mentone.
In one case, a Mitsubishi Triton ute was allegedly used to reverse into the front of a Mentone pharmacy on Florence Street around 1.50am on 30 May. Two men reportedly entered the store, stole various items, and fled the scene in the vehicle.
On the morning of Tuesday 4 June, detectives from the Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit executed search warrants at two Hastings properties, leading to the arrests.
Both men were charged with:
- Burglary
- Theft
- Criminal damage
- Committing an indictable offence while on bail
- Contravening bail conditions
They were remanded to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 5 and 10 June, respectively.
