The charges include:

  • Sexual exposure – allegedly exposing himself in a public place on 22 March 2025
  • Drug possession – allegedly in possession of methylamphetamine and 1,4-Butanediol on three occasions
  • Theft – allegedly stealing clothing and cleaning products
  • Handling stolen goods – allegedly possessing stolen number plates
  • Driving offences – including disqualified driving, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police

James’ lawyer requested additional time to consult with his client, and Magistrate William Parker agreed to a two-week adjournment.

The former key forward played 54 games across stints with Collingwood, Richmond, and the Western Bulldogs, before retiring from the AFL in 2002.

After his professional career, James played in various country and suburban leagues, though his time post-AFL was marked by controversy.
