Explosives, Drugs, and Stolen Property Seized in Cranbourne Raid

A significant cache of explosives, chemicals, and drugs was uncovered during a police raid in Cranbourne, leading to the arrest of a local woman.

Detectives from the Frankston Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a residential property on Wednesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into motor vehicle thefts in the Frankston area.

During the search, officers discovered approximately 15 kilograms of explosives, over 40 kilograms of chemicals used in the manufacture of explosives, and more than 60 detonation devices. The Victoria Police Bomb Response Unit was called in to render the items safe.

In addition to the explosives, investigators seized various drugs and stolen property from the premises.

A 26-year-old woman from Cranbourne was arrested at the scene. She has been charged with multiple offences, including:

  • Possession of explosive substances
  • Possession of cartridge ammunition
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Theft from motor vehicle
  • Trafficking a drug of dependence
  • Three counts of possession of a drug of dependence
  • Handling stolen goods

The accused was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court today.

Victoria Police have not disclosed further details regarding the types of explosives or the intended use of the materials. The investigation remains ongoing.
