Police appeal for dashcam footage after multiple collisions
A woman is alleged to have driven erratically through Somerville with three children in the car before being involved in two collisions on Saturday afternoon, 21 June.
The incident began just after 1.00pm, when police say a dark grey Jeep collided with the rear of a black Toyota wagon at the intersection of Bungower Road and Frankston-Flinders Road. Instead of stopping to exchange details, the Jeep allegedly sped off westbound along Bungower Road.
According to Victoria Police, multiple members of the public contacted Triple Zero to report the Jeep being driven at excessive speeds and in an erratic manner.
Shortly after, the Jeep was allegedly involved in a second crash at the Somerville Shopping Centre, near the electorate office of Paul Mercurio MP.
The female driver was intercepted by police and returned a preliminary breath test result of 0.126—more than double the legal alcohol limit. Police say three young children were in the car at the time.
Officers from Somerville Highway Patrol are now appealing for dashcam footage from any motorists who may have witnessed the Jeep’s driving behaviour between the two collisions.
