Frankston Council boosts Local Support Package to ease Cost-of-living Pressures pressures

Frankston City Council has expanded its Local Support Package, directing new funding to local organisations including the Babes Project, Thrive Hub, Family Life, and John Paul College’s Companion Food and Outreach Van. The package also provides support for neighbourhood houses, Youth Inclusion Grants, and community groups tackling family violence and gambling harms.

Frankston City Council has expanded its Local Support Package (LSP) with new targeted funding aimed at tackling cost-of-living pressures and strengthening grassroots organisations that support the community.

At its 8 September meeting, councillors approved additional allocations to a range of local groups, including $45,000 for organisations such as the Babes Project, Thrive Hub, Family Life, and John Paul College’s Companion Food and Outreach Van. Further recipients will be announced during a gifting ceremony scheduled for November.

Key funding commitments

The updated package includes:

  • $20,000 to Victoria Police Blue Ribbon, Peninsula Branch, in recognition of local fundraising efforts and the work of police officers.
  • An extra $5,000 for Youth Inclusion Grants, helping more young people facing financial barriers access education and recreational activities.
  • $135,000 in locked-in funding for Frankston’s nine neighbourhood houses, dedicated to running cost-of-living relief projects across the municipality.
  • $30,000 for organisations that work to prevent family violence, discrimination and harms caused by gambling, drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

Council response

Frankston Mayor Cr Kris Bolam said the latest commitments build on the city’s reputation for resilience.

Our community organisations are the heart of our city. They are the ones walking alongside people through some of life’s toughest challenges. Council is proud to support them, because when these groups are strong, our whole city is stronger,” he said.

Cr Nathan Butler said the updated allocations reflect a focus on long-term impact.

“These decisions highlight Council’s responsible approach to managing community resources, ensuring that funding continues to make a real difference where it matters most,” he said.

What’s next
