Police Appeal for Witnesses After Sorrento Stabbing on New Year’s Eve

Victoria Police are appealing for witnesses to a New Year’s Eve stabbing in Sorrento that left a teenager seriously injured. Contact Crime Stoppers if you have information.

Victoria Police are urging the public to come forward following a violent stabbing incident during New Year’s Eve celebrations in Sorrento. The altercation took place around 2 a.m. on 1 January near Point Nepean Road, Collins Parade, and Calcutta Street, involving up to 10 males.

An 18-year-old Melbourne man suffered five stab wounds and serious upper body injuries but managed to flee and seek help from friends. He required hospital treatment and stitches for his wounds.

The offenders, described as males of African, Middle Eastern, or Mediterranean appearance aged 17 to 21, wore black or grey Nike Tech Fleece clothing with ski masks or hoods. The main offender was reportedly of dark skin, aged 19 to 21, with four-inch-long braids.
