Victorian Government to Unlock Industrial Land in Hastings

The Victorian government has announced its Economic Growth Statement, a policy aimed at creating a 10-year pipeline of industrial land to support expanding businesses and job creation.

The Victorian government has announced its Economic Growth Statement, a policy aimed at creating a 10-year pipeline of industrial land to support expanding businesses and job creation.

The initiative focuses on Melbourne’s southeast, including Hastings, with the government planning to review zoning restrictions on up to 3,300 hectares of industrial land in Altona North and Hastings. The current Special Use Zoning limits how this land can be utilised, but proposed changes would open it up for new and growing businesses.

The government says the reforms will do more than unlock land. They aim to cut red tape, speed up environmental approvals, and strengthen the future of manufacturing in Victoria.

RPP FM reports that these changes could bring significant economic opportunities to Hastings, particularly for industries seeking room to grow and expand.
