Three men have been charged following the seizure of two firearms in Cranbourne on Thursday night, as part of Victoria Police’s Operation Advance.
At approximately 9:30 pm, officers observed a grey Volkswagen Golf travelling outbound on the Monash Freeway at an alleged speed of 150 km/h. The vehicle had reportedly evaded police in Cheltenham on 9 March.
Police tracked the Volkswagen through Springvale, Dandenong, and Cranbourne, maintaining a safe distance. The car eventually stopped at a service station on Westernport Highway in Cranbourne, where one occupant entered the premises while two remained in the vehicle. Officers swiftly arrested the three men, deploying OC spray when two allegedly resisted. A search of the vehicle uncovered two firearms, and the Volkswagen was impounded at a cost of $1,120.50.
Trio Faces Court Over Firearm Charges
The individuals charged include:
- A 26-year-old Hampton Park man, facing firearm, driving, and drug offences
- A 21-year-old Cranbourne North man, charged with firearm offences
- A 23-year-old Clyde North man, also charged with firearm offences
All three were remanded to appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Operation Advance Cracks Down on Offenders

This initiative supports Operation Trinity, which targets burglars and car thieves across Melbourne nightly.
