Pakenham, Victoria – Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 16-year-old boy from the Cardinia area in connection with a fatal collision that occurred in Pakenham last year. The incident took place just after 4 pm on 21 November 2024, at the intersection of Princes Highway and Windermere Avenue.
According to police reports, a silver Audi, alleged to have been stolen, collided with a Subaru station wagon at the intersection. The front seat passenger of the Audi, a 16-year-old boy from the Casey area, was airlifted to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Audi sustained life-threatening injuries and was also airlifted to hospital, while a 15-year-old rear seat passenger from the Cardinia area was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Subaru, a 44-year-old Pakenham man, along with his 6 and 10-year-old passengers, were uninjured in the collision.
Following a thorough investigation, the 16-year-old driver of the Audi has been charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, and theft of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear before a children’s court at a later date.
