Mornington Peninsula shire Council is seeking clarification over development proposals for the Arthurs Seat Eagle.
Lobby group, Save our Seat has petitioned council with nearly 10,000 signatures – detailing its objections to the $25 million development that includes a function centre, observation tower, restaurant and luge.
While it considers its position, Council has written to the Planning Minister Sonja Kilkenny noting the objections – and indicated that the mayor will meet with the Eagle proponents – and seek an extension of the review period while it formulates its ideas.
Meantime Roger Lancia – Chair of Mornington peninsula regional tourism has told ABC TV that adding extra facilities to the Arthurs Seat facility will broaden tourist options.
“It’s come back to life, we’re seeing people back on the lifts, on the chair lifts, heading up and down at the seat. One of the most iconic viewpoints of the Mornington Peninsula. Adding to that experience with another element is something that I think would be really quite enticing.”
