Public Tips Lead Police to Alleged Drink Driver in Seaford

A 53-year-old Seaford man allegedly returned a 0.245% BAC after being intercepted by police on Saturday. Public reports led to his arrest and vehicle impoundment.

SEAFORD — A man has had his licence suspended and vehicle impounded after allegedly being caught drink driving in Seaford on Saturday 5 April.

Somerville Highway Patrol officers were called to Austin Road following multiple triple zero calls from concerned members of the public. Witnesses reported seeing a man stumbling and unable to stand properly before getting into a vehicle and driving away.

Police located the vehicle shortly after on Galway Street, where the driver was intercepted and subjected to a breath test.

The 53-year-old Seaford man allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.245 per cent — nearly five times the legal limit. His Toyota Hilux was impounded for 30 days, and his licence was immediately suspended.

Victoria Police thanked those who reported the incident, stating that public assistance helped prevent a potentially serious situation.
