Homicide Squad detectives have charged a second man in relation to the fatal shooting that occurred in Rye on 2 December. This follows the earlier charge of a 24-year-old Narre Warren man in connection with the tragic deaths of two people at a Parson Street property in Rye.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 4am following reports of an alleged altercation between a man and a woman who had attended the address and the residents of the property.
It is alleged that a violent confrontation ensued, during which a male resident and a female visitor sustained gunshot wounds. Despite medical intervention, a 29-year-old Rye man and a 19-year-old Mornington woman tragically died at the scene. Authorities believe the individuals involved were known to each other.

On Sunday 22 December a second man, aged 25 and also from Narre Warren, was arrested earlier today and has been charged with the same offences. He has been remanded and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and detectives continue to appeal for any information that may assist.
