Victoria Police will increase road safety enforcement throughout April, urging motorists to drive with extra care during the school holiday period and Easter long weekend.
The warning, reported by RPP FM, coincides with the state’s two-week school holiday period, which concludes with the Easter break. Police are preparing for an expected increase in traffic on highways and major arterial roads, including those leading to regional and coastal destinations such as the Mornington Peninsula.
While March saw lower-than-average road trauma compared to previous years, police have cautioned that this should not lead to complacency.

Police have stated. Authorities will continue focusing enforcement efforts on speeding, impaired driving, mobile phone use, and seatbelt compliance—identified as key contributors to road trauma.
On the Mornington Peninsula, traffic volumes typically rise during holiday periods, particularly along main routes such as Peninsula Link, Nepean Highway and Moorooduc Highway. Police have not provided specific details about local operations but have confirmed that enforcement will be widespread across the state.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys, allow extra travel time, and take regular breaks to avoid fatigue.
