Rebuilding of Historic Dromana Pier Set to Begin This Autumn

Construction on the 160-year-old Dromana Pier is expected to commence this autumn, following extensive planning to replace the ageing structure while preserving its historical significance.

As reported by RPP FM, Parks Victoria, in collaboration with designers and community consultation, has outlined plans to retain and extend the fixed lower level of the pier. This will enhance accessibility for people of all abilities and continue to support recreational activities and boating.

The new pier will maintain the same length as the original, featuring solid timber decking and a terraced area at the pier head. Additional seating will be installed along the structure, providing visitors with a place to take in the scenic views over the bay and Arthur’s Seat. Pedestrian lighting, designed to be sensitive to aquatic marine life, and extra safety railings will also be added to improve safety and usability.

The reconstruction project is scheduled for completion in 2026, ensuring that the iconic pier remains a focal point for locals and visitors alike for generations to come.
