Greens candidate for Nepean Dr Sianan Healy has put cost of living and public transport at the centre of her by-election campaign, saying Southern Mornington Peninsula families are being hit hard by rising rents, power bills, groceries and fuel costs.
In a media release, Healy said poor public transport and the Peninsula’s reliance on cars were adding to household pressure and also affecting local businesses and tourism.
Healy said she would push for more buses, better routes and more frequent services, while backing broader Greens policies aimed at shifting more of the tax burden onto large corporations and the ultra-wealthy.
