Baxter, Victoria – A police operation in Baxter has led to the arrest of two people and the recovery of three high-value stolen vehicles, along with drugs, cash, and re-programmed car keys, as part of an ongoing crackdown on organised vehicle theft.
Detectives from the Frankston Crime Investigation Unit swooped on a Harold Court property in Baxter on Sunday morning, 2 February, uncovering a stash of allegedly stolen vehicles, including a Holden VF Senator sedan, a Holden VF Walkinshaw SS wagon, and a Yamaha motorcycle. Police estimate the total value of the recovered vehicles to be over $200,000.
In addition to the vehicles, officers seized a significant quantity of methylamphetamines, cloned number plates, and a sum of cash suspected to be linked to criminal activity.
An 18-year-old woman from Baxter was taken into custody but later released pending a summons. A 35-year-old Baxter man was also arrested and transported to hospital under police guard before being formally charged with multiple offences, including vehicle theft, drug trafficking, and handling the proceeds of crime.
He has been bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 17 March.
Detective Nick Lamb from the Frankston Crime Investigation Unit reinforced police efforts in tackling car theft and dangerous driving.
“If your pride and joy is stolen, we will investigate and bring those responsible before the courts. Anyone engaging in high-risk driving in stolen vehicles will be held accountable,”
he said.
Police investigations remain ongoing as authorities continue their efforts to disrupt organised crime networks involved in vehicle theft.
