Peninsula Aero Club: A Truley community focused organisation

The Peninsula Aero Club (PAC) is more than just an aviation hub – it’s a vital part of the broader Western Port and Mornington Peninsula communities. For years, PAC has been a gathering point for aviation enthusiasts, families, and locals, all coming together for events that support the region and its people.

One of the standout events is the Annual Toy Run, celebrating its 10th year this December. It’s a day where aircraft and classic car displays, live music, and a strong sense of community spirit come together to support local charities. Last year, the event drew over 1000 visitors and collected more than 800 toys, all of which were donated to Food for All. This year, the Club aims to surpass that milestone, with all donations benefiting Western Port Community Support.

But PAC’s impact goes beyond the Toy Run. Their partnerships with local organisations, like the Tyabb CFA, ensure that events are not only successful but also safe and well-supported. Whether it’s charity work, community events, or preserving aviation history, PAC is always playing a role in improving life across the Peninsula.

“The annual toy run at Peninsula Aero Club is delighted to be working with Westernport Community Support Centre and with our other key partners, the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia, to collect and donate toys for children and their families in challenging circumstances at this time of year. Last year we collected upwards of 800 toys and we hope the community will be able to match that generosity this year. Once again the Somerville Family Day committee have been supporting this year’s toy run. Our partners do a wonderful job in helping get toys into the hands of those in most need and to bring joy to families across the Peninsula during Christmas”.

As the region grows and evolves, the importance of PAC becomes even clearer. It’s not just an airport – it’s a place where people from all over Western Port and the Mornington Peninsula can come together, learn about aviation, and support each other.

The Peninsula Aero Club isn’t just part of Tyabb – it’s part of what makes the entire region special. From charitable efforts to community-building, PAC’s role in the Peninsula is one that shouldn’t be overlooked. This December, the Toy Run offers another opportunity to show support and help ensure that PAC continues its important work for many years to come.

The event runs from 10:30 am, with the aircraft displays starting at 11:00 am. Entry is free, but donations of unwrapped toys are encouraged, especially those for children aged 8-14 years.
