Paterson Lakes: Driver Hits 200km/h and Rams Police Car

A 27-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly driving at 200km/h, colliding with a police vehicle, and fleeing the scene in Paterson Lakes. She is expected to face multiple charges.

A 27-year-old woman from Caulfield East has been arrested after allegedly driving at speeds of up to 200km/h and colliding with a police vehicle during a late-night pursuit in Paterson Lakes on Sunday.

According to Victoria Police, the incident began around 10:15pm when the Air Wing observed a white Holden Astra allegedly travelling at excessive speed along Thompson Road. When ground units attempted to intercept the vehicle, it reportedly veered onto a footpath before reversing into a police car and fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported during the collision.

The vehicle was later spotted travelling along Centre Dandenong Road in Moorabbin. Officers deployed stop sticks, successfully deflating the tyres and bringing the car to a halt. During the arrest, police say the driver failed to follow instructions, requiring the use of OC spray.

The woman, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police allege the Astra was fitted with false number plates, and a small quantity of a drug of dependence was found inside the vehicle. The woman is expected to be charged with multiple driving and drug-related offences.

Investigations are ongoing.
