Insider Claims Suggest Further Departures at MPSC

An anonymous MPSC insider has contacted STPL News alleging a new wave of departures, following senior staff exits in December 2024 and January 2025, as well as redundancies in September. The source also claims the Local Government Inspectorate is continuing its presence inside the organisation.

Staff report concern as speculation grows around potential monitor appointment

Multiple Mornington Peninsula Shire Council (MPSC) insiders have told STPL News that another round of senior employees have recently given notice, contributing to growing internal concern about turnover within the organisation. Several staff members, who are not authorised to speak publicly, allege that a number of colleagues have either resigned or signalled their intention to leave.

One source has alleged that Coastal Planners Team Leader Laura Crinly, and the Director of the McCrae Landslide Inquiry, Derek Rotter, are among the names being discussed internally. These claims remain unconfirmed and STPL News has not sighted any documentation to validate them.

If confirmed to be accurate, this will make the third exodus since December 2024, not including the +35 redundancies announced in September 2025.

Ongoing Local Government Inspectorate presence claimed by staff

Multiple staff have furthet told STPL News that the Local Government Inspectorate (LGI) is continuing its presence within MPSC. Staff describe the LGI as still “on the ground” and active inside the organisation after several months.

STPL News contacted the LGI for clarification, however they would not confirm or deny whether any activity is underway, consistent with its policy of not commenting on potential or ongoing matters. As a result, any alleged ongoing presence remains unverified.

Internal whispers of a possible monitor

Some staff now believe that a municipal monitor could be appointed before the end of the year or early 2026. These suggestions stem from internal conversations rather than any formal advice. The Victorian Government has not issued any public statement indicating that intervention is being considered.

Employees who spoke to STPL News said speculation about external oversight has grown as concerns about organisational stability continue.

Previous leaks have aligned with future developments, but current claims remain unverified

STPL News notes that earlier information provided by internal staff has later aligned with confirmed events. However, the current allegations regarding staff departures, LGI activity, and potential oversight measures remain unconfirmed.
