Mornington Peninsula to Host Key Political Forum Ahead of Federal Election

Committee for Frankston and Mornington 2025 Federal Candidates Forum - Friday, 14 February

The Mornington Peninsula will take centre stage in the national political landscape, hosting a significant forum ahead of the upcoming federal election. Organised by the Committee for Frankston and Mornington, the event will be held on 14 February at the Mornington Racing Club.

Josh Sinclair, CEO of the Committee for Frankston and Mornington, announced that the forum will feature all candidates contesting the federal seats of Dunkley and Flinders. Members of the Committee, local constituents, and the general public are also invited to attend, with RPP FM broadcasting the event live.

In a statement, Mr Sinclair emphasised the positive and constructive nature of the forum, designed to foster open dialogue rather than confrontation. He highlighted the Committee’s aim to provide candidates with an opportunity to present their visions and policies for the region, reinforcing its own role as a vital advocacy body.

“We’re the peak advocacy body for the region. We have a strong bipartisan relationship with our member for Dunkley, our member for Flinders, and our candidates in Dunkley and Flinders,”

Mr Sinclair said.

“We’re really looking forward to a productive conversation where candidates will feel like they want to do it again next time. Our members and those in the audience will actually feel like they’re getting something meaningful out of it — rather than what you sometimes see on ABC or Sky News.”

Mr Sinclair stressed the importance of maintaining a positive tone throughout the event, with a focus on informed discussion that benefits both candidates and attendees.

The forum is expected to draw significant community interest as residents look to learn more about each candidate’s commitments to addressing key local issues. The Dunkley and Flinders electorates encompass diverse communities with a wide range of priorities, making the event a crucial platform for political engagement in the region.
