Mornington Peninsula Shire is poised to announce its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) later this week, pending the completion of final background checks. Several sources have indicated that the selected candidate has prior experience with a south-eastern council and he has previously collaborated with some current councillors.
The Shire has been under the leadership of Acting CEO Bulent Oz since November 2024, following the departure of former CEO John Baker, who assumed the CEO position at Sunshine Coast Council in Queensland. Mr Oz, formerly the Chief Financial Officer, was appointed Acting CEO during the recruitment process for a permanent replacement.
The anticipated appointment aims to provide stable leadership and continue the Shire’s commitment to effectively serving the Mornington Peninsula community.
