ROSEBUD – The 14th edition of the Mornington Peninsula Film Festival kicks off Friday night, bringing cinema enthusiasts together for a weekend of Australian and international film. Festival Director Steve Bastoni

In an interview with RPP FM Radio, Festival Director Steve Bastoni highlighted the challenges facing arts festivals across the nation, noting the impact of rising costs and reduced funding. However, he reaffirmed the festival’s commitment to showcasing emerging talent from the Mornington Peninsula and beyond.

“We’re certainly playing, I think, a vital part in their development, and we are really proud of that small part we play in the development of their careers,”

Mr Bastoni said.

“It brings us immense satisfaction and gives us a lot of purpose to be a part of their journeys and watch where they go in the future. There’s some amazing talent that comes out of it.”

The Mornington Peninsula Film Festival has built a reputation as a launchpad for young filmmakers, providing them with a platform to exhibit their work and gain industry recognition. Attendees this year can expect a diverse programme featuring short films, documentaries, and feature-length productions, along with workshops and networking opportunities for creators and enthusiasts alike.

The festival runs throughout the weekend, with screenings and events designed to celebrate and support Australia’s dynamic film industry.
