Monash Greenlink Opens, Connecting Monash University to Frankston’s CBD

The Monash Greenlink shared user path, a $1.3 million upgrade by Frankston City Council and the Victorian Government, now connects Monash University to Frankston’s city centre, enhancing safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Frankston City Council, in partnership with the Victorian Government, has completed the long-awaited Monash Greenlink shared user path, enhancing connectivity between Monash University’s Peninsula Campus and Frankston’s city centre.

The $1.3 million upgrade improves safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists along the Baxter Trail. It includes a new concrete path, a raised crossing at Clarendon Street for safer passage, and fencing approved by Metro Trains Melbourne. Lighting installations are expected to follow soon.

The project is part of the Frankston Suburban Revitalisation Program, which has also delivered upgrades to Stiebel Place and Fletcher Road. The program focuses on enhancing local infrastructure to create safer, more accessible, and attractive public spaces.

Frankston City Council says the improvements support active transport, encouraging more walking and cycling while reducing traffic congestion. The Victorian Government has backed the revitalisation initiative, aiming to promote sustainable development and increase liveability across Melbourne’s suburbs.

The Monash Greenlink shared user path is now open for public use, marking another step towards a more connected and commuter-friendly Frankston.
