Mornington Peninsula Shire has appointed its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Bulent Oz, as Acting CEO following the recent resignation of John Baker. Mr Oz will hold the caretaker position until a permanent CEO is appointed, which is expected early next year.
Mayor Anthony Marsh expressed confidence in Mr Oz’s ability to navigate the council through this transitional period, citing his extensive experience and in-depth understanding of the shire’s financial landscape.
“We all know that a lot of the challenges facing the Shire at the moment are mostly financial ones. We often talk about cost shifting, rate capping, the sustainability of the sector overall. So no, I couldn’t think of anyone better to take us through this period while we obviously go out looking for a permanent CEO, but someone that’s got a really good grasp on those challenges.”
Said Mayor Marsh.
As CFO, Mr Oz has been at the forefront of addressing the council’s financial issues, making him well-positioned to manage the ongoing challenges faced by the Mornington Peninsula Shire.
