In a hard-fought Round 15 MPNFL contest, Somerville banked their fourth consecutive win at home against the highly credentialed Chelsea, 9.11.65 to 6.6.42.
With Frankston Bombers and Pearcedale looking secure on top of the premiership ladder, a logjam of teams is queuing up to attain a coveted finals berth.
Currently, Chelsea and Crib Point sit on 40 points, with Devon Meadows and Somerville on 36. The final three rounds are delicately poised, with Somerville fixtured to play Tyabb, followed by heavyweight contests against the top two teams, Pearcedale and Frankston.
True to form, Somerville once again converted a three-quarter-time deficit into a character-building victory after trailing at every break. Entering the final quarter three points behind, Somerville executed a clear game plan and showcased superior fitness to produce a magnificent final quarter and seal the win by 23 points.
