Council Invests $100k in New Fire-Themed Festival for Frankston
Frankston will be glowing next winter with a brand-new signature event designed to light up the cooler months and bring people together by the bay.
The Frankston Winter Fire Festival, launching on Saturday, 13 June 2026, will transform the Frankston Waterfront into a lively celebration of fire, food, and music. Bonfires, glowing fire pits, and fire-cooked feasts will set the scene for a night of community connection and local pride.
Deputy Mayor Cr Steffie Conroy said the festival was about keeping the city alive and welcoming all year round.

“The Frankston Winter Fire Festival will bring warmth, light and energy to our city at a time when things traditionally begin to quieten down,” she said.
“It’s about giving people more reasons to visit, stay and spend locally, no matter the season.”
Investment in community and tourism
The festival is backed by a $100,000 council investment as part of the Destination Event Attraction Program (DEAP) — a key initiative focused on boosting tourism and supporting local business.
Council recently lifted the DEAP budget to $310,000, reflecting growing confidence in the city’s event strategy. Now in its third year, the program is forecast to attract around 51,000 visitors and deliver nearly $5 million in annual economic benefits.
Cr Michael O’Reilly said the Winter Fire Festival was about connection and community.

“It’s a chance for people to rug up, come together and enjoy the warmth and atmosphere that make our city so special.”
Completing a year-round line-up
The new festival completes Frankston’s 2025–2026 DEAP line-up, joining:
- Carlsberg Beach Club – 19 December 2025 to 29 March 2026
- Frankston Swim Classic – 7 February 2026
- Australian Sand Sculpting Championships – April 2026
- Frankston Winter Fire Festival – 13 June 2026
Event details and activations will be announced early next year, with the Festival and Major Events team set to collaborate with local suppliers and performers.
