Frankston residents are being encouraged to put forward their local champions for the 2026 Citizen of the Year Awards, with nominations now open.
The annual awards recognise individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to the community, either through dedicated service over many years or outstanding efforts in the past 12 months.
Alongside nominating community leaders, residents and local operators also have the chance to play a direct role in the process by joining the Independent Selection Panel. Members of the panel will be tasked with reviewing and assessing all submissions before determining the winners in each category.
Frankston City Councillor Sue Baker said the awards offered a chance to highlight the positive difference being made by people across the city.
“The Citizen of the Year Awards are a wonderful way to shine a light on the individuals and groups who quietly go above and beyond for our city,” she said.
Award categories for 2026 include:
- Citizen of the Year (24 years and over)
- Young Citizen of the Year (under 24 years)
- Community Group of the Year
The winners will be announced at a civic ceremony in January, hosted by the Mayor of Frankston City.
Nominations and expressions of interest to join the selection panel close on Friday 31 October 2025. Further details are available at www.frankston.vic.gov.au/COTY.
