Frank Schiefler has been chosen by the Liberal Party for endorsement as its candidate for Hastings at the November Victorian state election.

A formal public announcement from the party is still pending.

Schiefler is expected to contest Hastings, the seat currently held by Labor MP Paul Mercurio.

His selection follows the recent withdrawal of former Liberal hopeful Shane Osborne, who earlier this month confirmed to STPL News that he had resigned from the party and nominated for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation in Hastings.

STPL News understands Schiefler lives in Hastings, is a member of Somerville Tyabb Rotary Club, served in the Australian Army, and has worked with senior Liberal figures in advisory roles.

He is currently serving on the Somerville Tyabb Rotary Club board.

Further details are expected once the Liberal Party formally announces its candidate for Hastings.
