CCTV released after driver flees Rosebud freeway hit-run

Police have released CCTV images as they investigate a hit-run collision on the Peninsula Freeway at Rosebud, where a driver allegedly fled the scene on foot before the offending vehicle was driven away.

Police are seeking public assistance after a hit-run collision on the Peninsula Freeway at Rosebud, with CCTV images released of a man investigators want identified.

The collision occurred on 31 March 2026 at about 4.30pm.

What police say

According to police, an unknown 4WD collided with the rear of a Subaru as it was entering the freeway.

Police allege the male driver of the 4WD then fled the scene on foot.

They say the front-seat passenger later drove away in the offending vehicle.

Investigators have now released CCTV images of a man captured after the incident as they appeal for help from the public.

Witness appeal

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.

They are particularly seeking information from people who may have:

  • seen the collision
  • seen the driver after he allegedly ran from the scene
  • captured relevant dashcam footage
  • recognised the man shown in the CCTV images
