Langwarrin Man Charged with Wife’s Murder

Langwarrin, VIC – Victoria Police have confirmed that a 63-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his 59-year-old wife at their Langwarrin home.

Emergency services were called to the property on Wood Duck Court around 6:30 am on Thursday, 26 December 2024, following reports of a stabbing.

The woman was found already deceased at the scene.

Accourding to the Herald Sun, the man, identified as John Beres, who was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder. It is understood that the incident occurred just hours after the couple had hosted a Christmas lunch.

He appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded in custody and is scheduled for a committal case conference in April.

Detective Inspector Dean Thomas from Victoria Police’s Homicide Squad stated that there was no prior history of domestic violence between the couple.

A crime scene has been established, and forensic teams are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Police have recovered a weapon from the home, though the exact type has not been confirmed.
