RPP FM NEWS has reported that a Langwarrin landowner has been hit with a $15,000 fine after illegally clearing protected vegetation, following a successful prosecution by Frankston City Council.

The Frankston Magistrates’ Court also ordered the owner to pay nearly $4,000 in legal costs after an investigation into tree clearing, unauthorised land use, and illegal construction on McClelland Drive.

Frankston City Council has warned that this case serves as a reminder to all property owners that making unauthorised changes to land without proper approvals can lead to significant financial penalties and legal action.

Under the Frankston Planning Scheme, landowners must obtain Council approval before altering land use or removing vegetation. Failing to comply can result in heavy fines, legal expenses, and further enforcement measures.

Authorities say they remain committed to investigating and prosecuting environmental breaches to ensure the protection of green spaces and the enforcement of planning laws.
