Homicide Squad detectives have made a breakthrough in the investigation of a fatal incident on McCrae Street, Dandenong, earlier this week, charging a man with murder.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 9:40 am on Tuesday, 7 January, after a man was found with serious upper body injuries. The 49-year-old Dandenong man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following investigations, detectives arrested a 24-year-old man from Dandenong North on Thursday. He has since been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.
This development follows earlier reports of neighbours hearing gunshots and screams in the area. Police had urged the public to provide any information or footage that could assist in the case.
