Free Green Waste Weekend Extended for Mornington Peninsula Shire Residents

MORNINGTON PENINSULA, VIC – Mornington Peninsula Shire has announced an extension of the upcoming No Charge Green Waste Weekend, now scheduled from Friday, 28 March 2025, to Sunday, 30 March 2025.

This initiative allows residents and ratepayers to dispose of green waste at no cost, aiming to promote environmental sustainability and assist in property maintenance. More information is available at mornpen.vic.gov.au.

    • Friday, 28 March 2025: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    • Saturday, 29 March 2025: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Sunday, 30 March 2025: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Drop-off Locations:
    • Rye Resource Recovery Centre – Truemans Road, Rye
    • Tyabb Resource Recovery Centre – 21 McKirdys Road, Tyabb
    • Mornington Resource Recovery Centre – 134 Watt Road, Mornington

Participation Guidelines

  • Eligibility: Open exclusively to Mornington Peninsula Shire residents and ratepayers.
  • Identification: Participants must present proof of residency, such as a driver’s licence or rates notice.
  • Accepted Waste: Includes all types of garden waste and untreated timber.
  • Volume Limit: Mornington Resource Recovery Centre accepts up to three cubic metres of green waste per trip.
  • Restrictions: No commercial vehicles or commercial green waste will be accepted.

Residents are advised that these events are popular, and delays should be expected, especially in the mornings and late afternoons.

Additional Green Waste Services

For those unable to attend the No Charge Green Waste Weekend, the Shire offers a 240-litre fortnightly food and green waste bin collection service for urban area residents. This service can be opted into for an annual fee. More details can be found at mornpen.vic.gov.au.
