Frankston’s New Hospital to Feature Cutting-Edge Technology and Green Innovation

When Frankston’s new $1.1 billion hospital opens next year, it will not only feature state-of-the-art medical equipment but also cutting-edge innovations in healthcare and environmental sustainability reports RPP FM.

The ambitious redevelopment, designed to prioritise neighbourhood health, will integrate advanced air quality systems governed by green spaces. Fresh air within the building will be delivered through innovative technology that harnesses a green canopy outside the facility.

The hospital’s new tower will feature 71 courtyards and terraces, three green rooftops, and more than 11,500 square metres of trees, plants, and garden spaces. This design promotes a healthier indoor environment while contributing to sustainability goals.

Supporting this environmental focus, a new study led by Dr Alison Carver from the National Centre for Healthy Ageing will investigate the relationship between neighbourhood greenery and individual health outcomes. The research aims to uncover connections between plant-filled environments and age-related longevity and diseases, offering insights that could benefit residents across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.

The Frankston Hospital redevelopment represents a significant investment in both healthcare innovation and community well-being, positioning it as a model for future hospital designs.
